Sara Salam has over 12 years of experience in DEI and Human Resources across multiple industries, including tech, telecommunications, and professional sports. She has spent ten seasons working for the front offices of professional teams in the MLB, NBA and NHL. She currently serves as the Director, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging for Sharks Sports and Entertainment, holding company of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and other properties in the Bay Area.  

 Sara specializes in learning and development, talent acquisition and retention, organizational development, change and performance management, career transitions, culture and engagement, employee relations, and staff programming. Sara enjoys helping her clients identify their opportunities/challenges and then partners with them to develop creative solutions for both the short and long term.  

 In the spirit of her DEI work, Sara believes facts are facts and truth is personal. She uses teambuilding and learning opportunities to make connections between people, concepts, ideas, and behaviors to help illustrate that there is almost always opportunity for relatability, to find something in common, which creates the safety to explore differences in a thoughtful and respectful way.  

Sara is also a published author of 13 books and counting. She writes fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. She also enjoys yoga, the beach, and walks with her Red Siberian husky, Neela.
